The people must decide to stand with Ethiopia or with a criminal gang that massacred ENDF while the troops were asleep. Stand with Ethiopia doesn't mean support for the governing party but distance themselves from criminal TPLF. And there is no evidence for ethnic cleansing or genocide. Currently, all medias and human rights organizations have full access to Tigray but they couldn't produce prove for a systematic genocide or ethnic cleansing. Anyway, as the PM said human rights abuses will be independently investigated with the UN human rights agencies.

But don't expect ENDF yet again to sacrifice for Tigray as it did during and after the Badme war. The army has no obligation to protect people who massacre it or give full support for criminals that massacre the army while it was protecting Tigray. Even if PM Abiy wants, the army will in this case simply refuse to die for Tigray. ENDF paid heavy price for Tigray during and after the Badme war and got massacred as a thank you.

Now the people and the elite of Tigray have an obligation to make their minds and to guaranty that they will never ever do such shameful crime against ENDF. I agree on article 39. That is not realistic (at least for now) and will ultimately end up in war. But engaging with in the political system even if you want secession is the best way forward in my view.

Yes, I said that and every attempt most likely will end up in war. I also explained the reason behind my assumption. It is because of border disputes but if any region is willing to accept the border Ethiopia will give it, then it may have a chance to secede. When I say Ethiopia will accept Tigray's request for secession, the condition is clear. Tigray will not get Amhara lands but only historical proper Tigray lands. There is no such thing as western and southern Tigray. All these areas will of course remain in Ethiopia. If Tigray accepts this condition, I think Ethiopia will let it go.

After TPLF's cruel rule for 17 years, most Ethiopians are not claiming Tigray anyway. It is up to Tigreans to stay in or exit the federation but if they stay then they must never cross the red line otherwise it is better they exit the federation and become independent.
