Ethiopia’s foreign ministry has apologised after a map of Africa on its website showed the country annexing its neighbour and regional rival Somalia.

The map, which showed landlocked Ethiopia stretching from the Red Sea to the Indian Ocean, drew an uproar on social media where some Somalis viewed it as an insight into its larger neighbour’s geopolitical ambitions.

The map also featured the self-declared state
of Somaliland, which is not internationally
recognised and is a continuing embarrassment
to the Somali authorities in Mogadishu.

The Ethiopian foreign ministry said that it was
unsure how the "unacceptable" map had
'crept in on the website", adding: "We sincerely regret any confusion and misunderstanding this incident might have caused."

Ethiopia have de-facto annexed large swathes of lands in KGS and JL (presence in some parts from the 90s!!!). The other day, they made incursion into Hiiran and what did Somalia even do? Nothing. The question remains, if they'll ever leave Somalia, especially now that they'll engage with AS in more lands
