Election news:

This makes opposition nervous.

Erdoğan vows new civilian, libertarian constitution
Recalling that Türkiye voted in favor of a constitutional change in 2017 that shifted the government model into executive-presidency and consolidated the principle of the separation of powers in the country, Erdoğan said:

β€œWe have raised the standards of our democracy by setting clearer boundaries between the legislative, executive and judicial branches. With this constitutional amendment, we also added the phrase of β€˜impartiality’ to the principle of β€˜independence.’ We have thus taken an important step to save the judiciary from the former disputes it used to end up in.”

K Kilicdaroglu presented as an alternative to T Erdogan.

Western media depicts Turkish election: free, but not fair. Let us ruminate that for a moment.

A pro gov't opinion to counter that.

TΓΌrkiye’s elections are free and fair. All parties can have observers next to each ballot box so that none can meddle with the electoral process. There might indeed be attempts to rig elections, but they generally fail. Also, parties’ negligence is typically the fundamental reason for likely controversies.

West backs Kılıçdaroğlu
Third, the Western media also praises the opposition alliance’s candidate and CHP Chairperson, Kemal KΔ±lΔ±Γ§daroğlu, and does not hesitate to unveil their support for him. They call him a modest and potential savior of democracy. However, when we look at intraparty democracy, we can see that Mr. KΔ±lΔ±Γ§daroğlu appoints only his friends, the majority of whom are sectarian, to higher posts, including parliamentary seats. KΔ±lΔ±Γ§daroğlu also hinted at establishing a regional union consisting of Iran, Syria, Iraq and Lebanon, all of which are under the control of Shiite regimes. Besides, KΔ±lΔ±Γ§daroğlu says he will collaborate with Syria’s Bashar Assad and force Syrian migrants to return home, where they will be tortured or killed. Needless to say, such a policy will hurt Europe, as migrants will head to the continent instead of Syria.

Erdogan was pro LGBT when he was mayor.
In the early 90s when even the most liberal in the US & UK would not broach the subject, eh? How very progressive of him.

Latest polls seem to give Kilicdaroglu a leg up in the race.
A poll from KONDA, which made accurate predictions in the 2014 and 2018 elections, placed Kilicdaroglu β€” whom many considered the least likely candidate among the opposition to defeat Erdogan β€” at 49.6% and Erdogan at 43.7%, while the two other candidates, nationalist Sinan Ogan and Ince, got 4.8% and 2.2%, respectively.

Ozer Sencar of MetroPOLL also reported similar findings, with Kilicdaroglu at 49.1% and Erdogan at around 47%. All these calculations on Turkey’s dual polls for a president and parliament were made before Ince’s withdrawal.

The economic woes of Turkey cannot be placed only on Erdoğan's feet but there are multiple factors for the inflation currently happening. The effect of Western sanctions has also played a big part in the economic troubles.

Erdoğan offers security and stability in the region and because of that I hope he wins.
