Turkish folks aren't happy about this decision and for good reason. Erdogan is taking a political beating for this especially following the earthquakes. He must be betting on something big on Somalia.

Weapons sales and a huge first movers advantage in terms of business and trade deals. Cheap oil and gas exports and maybe a strong dependable ally to join the new Islamic block to stand against the UAE Saudi block.

No one is paying taxes. The current unelected government doesn't have the mandate to tax anyone and more importantly they don't have the mandate to burden us with more loans which is obviously the goal here.
