Yeah I got the navels and the Madow hair, but I've never accepted as bantu by west Africa. And lips. I'm as flat as a pancake. I'm not trying to claim some great clan or whatnot. I'm just trying to connected with my roots. I fell out with my father's side. I haven't talked to my dad for 5 years. Also, most Madow/somali usually end up looking like the former. What I can remember is they were originally Sunni Muslim, the surname was arabized , and they settled in Minneapolis and Atlanta. My family came during the 1940s. That's all I know. I feel that the culture diluted from greatness is sad. I want to learn the language and embrace it. I know some will never accept me and that's fine. That's the price of my family selling their pride. I would like to find my father to find my surname.
