Election won't take place in the Somali region

There will be no real election in Ethiopia. Only Amhara state will have local elections but Abiy will win indefinitely.

Welcome to another 27 years of dictatorship, i hope Somalia stays in his good side.

People are already complaining no elections in Tigray Somali Sw and a rigged Oromia? A dragged out punishment being publicized everywhere aswell as growing inflation.

Abiy is creating too steep of a hierarchy especially after threatening the disbanding of all state forces. I have never seen a president this wild its no wonder people prefer old politicians in stable countries.

Abiy is very energetic unlike previous leaders. Do you believe these actions will be beneficial for Ethiopia in the long run?

Also perhaps Abiy is the last warcry by amhara before Ethiopia crumbles.

Not if he keeps it up like this no hierarchy can be so top heavy without falling.

Destroying state Liyus is his worst idea for longevity. The federal army isnt enough to handle all things everywhere thats what was taught to Mengistu and Haile Selassie the hard way. I dont expect Somalia level collapse but I do expect a return to atleast 1990s chaos of insurgencies everywhere or at most Mengistu like fall for Abiy with the Tigray being the long simmering conflict like Eritrea was back then.

Ethiopia has regular civil wars and conflicts every 30 odd years give or take a decade. Its about will Somalis be prepared or will we repeat 91.

@Removed are the special forces for every state in 🇪🇹 comparable to the paramilitary forces of Somalia's FMSs in terms of military strength and also operating independently of the national level military

When peaked the Somali Liyus numbers are estimated to be around 40K, lower periods estimates are around 20K.

From what I understand thats significantly more then the SNA let alone an FMS. Liyu are far more efficient aswell they are probably the only “Somali” force that could stand AS. They have that unbribable ruthlessness similiar to how AS had with IS in Somalia, evil understands evil.

Election was postponed for ca. 2 months in some constituencies where opposition parties filled fraud allegations and where election board thinks the allegations are too serious to be ignored. Few constituencies will also vote some 2 months later due technical problems like ballot paper printing delays etc.

Somali region is the only region where widespread election registration fraud allegation on massive state wide level was reported by almost all opposition parties. Election board too thinks the allegations are way too serious and widespread to be ignored and has stopped the registration process and postponed the election in the state until investigation is completed. Voter registration may be repeated in the region.

it's cancelled in parts of oromia where the OLF is active, as well. Not surprising. Abiy is gonna try to rule til 2031, if not longer.

No constituency in Oromia is affected by the delay. Election will be held even in the 4 western Wellega zones where normally OLF is mostly active.

What would be the consequence if ONLF wins the election? They promised before that they would seek a referendum for independence and Ethiopia would never allow that. This could be an attempt to buy some more time to ensure that they would be able to rig the election and sniff out any chance of ONLF winning.

Do you have any sources for your claim?

Election board itself gave serious and widespread voter fraud allegations/irregularities in Somali as a reason why it stopped the voter registration in state altogether. It is the only state that opposition parties including ONLF reported a state wide voter registration fraud that seem too be too serious that even election board was forced to suspend the voter registration and start an investigation.

since when? I remember a few months ago, they announced the opposite of what you said?

Yes, voter registration deadline was extended in western Wellega and some areas of Guji zone but election board is now saying they have managed to catch up and election will be held in all Oromia zones without delay. See the blew video from yesterday where election board lists the zones where election will be postponed. There is one in Amhara (Ataye) but none in Oromia.

Interesting. But let's be honest, abiy's party is most likely going to say they won, even if they don't. If OLF were given a fair chance to compete, no doubt, they'd win, at the very least, a significant amount of votes in Oromia

So basically the habashi occupation forces won't allow somalis to vote
Don't complain if somalis in Ogadenia are angry. Will elections take place only in Abiy's neighborhood? I thought Abiy was smarter than this

No, it is the ONLF and all other oppositions in the region that are opposing it accusing the Abiy PP party in Somali region of voter fraud. Abiy and his PP party would have loved to go ahead with the vote but election board stood with the opposition saying the allegation is too serious and widespread to ignore it. This is not the first time in Ethiopia that some parts of the country would vote few months after the election date. This has happened at least 3 times in the past in different part of the country. The alternative would be to ignore the serious allegations and go-ahead with the votes and give 99% victory for Abiy's PP party. That was how TPLF used to win always over 99% votes. Times have changed now, we have an independent election board and the government can't just rig the votes with fake registration or what not. Every allegation that is backed by hard facts will be investigated.
