I suspect that Somalia's gdp per capita has been declining due to the population boom the country is undergoing. Even though GDP is growing at around 3%, it is not evenly distributed growth and real incomes for almost all people is in decline. We are just getting bigger and poorer. Much of Africa is in a semi-malthusian state, where modern economic growth is translated directly into humans through higher fertility rates.

What is your view on Ethiopia growing at 10% and Kenya at 6.5%?
