The only dogs that make sense to me are the ones that serve a purpose, (protection). Outside of that they're not worth the hassles.

Both cats and dogs carry various parasites, if you're letting your cat sleep on your bed, just acknowledge fecal matter will also be on your bed, aswell as parasites, if not given the right medication yearly.

Dogs themselves are no issue at all. The Qur'an itself literally says nothing about them except like one story where it depicts them positively— a story that involves a devoted dog of the "People of the Cave" in Surah Al-Kahf.
Arabian Bedouin kept dogs all the time and even have their own unique breed:

Not as pets the ways cadaans keep them but as work animals, of course, but you still see accounts like the above of children playing with them or you can read up on how Arabian Ahlil Badiyah basically let them into their tents and treated them affectionately.
