Dr Osman brilliant idea for Somalia is the best

To solve the matter of 99 years and every 25 years to re evaluate the union and in the mean time puntland shall
Operate as an independent state . With its own laws economy currency and political structure. There for u don’t fully declare independence but keep the door open for eventual re union and re integration if the south becomes stable and viable and there for puntland doesn’t wait and fully develops . This is a middle ground to the federalist unionist and the puntland first

No to union. Forget about Somalia.

A full Balkanization isn't realistic either it's admirable but not realistic(locally the people don't want it) and internationally the world doesn't seem interested either(due to a number of geopolitical reasons and preserving the global rule based order that all member states have full confidence in. I doubt their going to nudge on their global well being due to political disagreements locally).

A 99 year treaty that gives PL the window to develop with international partners is best plus it allows the world to see if PL turns into a positive force with evidence over those 99 years in the event Somalia in 100 years is still in this horrendous stalemate.

Plus Every 25 years a review can be done to assess if a federal union is suitable once a number of conditions are met such as rule of.law, security, good governance, socio economic development, local and foreign confidence, etc which should be a shared state level posture irrespective of the govt elected or leader of the day or time period

This is also best for us in the event the PL experiment itself has any existential crisis in unseen futuere as we can always go into Somalia who may even been succeeding and we shouldn't miss that gravy train.

This is also suitable to international partners that PL can carry out its developmental goals with no interference from Mogadishu) and have the power to meet with foreign governments without violating one Somalia Model in the UN(their will be no puntland seat there) and will only speak for its region with global partners.

As @Jaffar noted its a.middle.ground solution for PL first(very rabid base and sometimes too radical for my liking and bordering SL delusional politics which is when I disengage) but PL unionists(who want to hold onto the same policy with very little positive outcome for itself which loses.my respect also).

See that's how u do diplomacy well genuine one which we were mastering under the military govt of siyad barre. In diplomacy you need to tell Mogadishu the benefits they gain such as if PL does well, Somalia also will have backup and positive force contributing to Mogadishu if it fails and if PL fails we can also have Mogadishu as back up. Win Win, our eggs are not placed in one city which is a huge security risk by the way to have a whole nation lifeline in one city lol but we need multiple lifelines in Somalia as a way to hedge our bets not consolidate it into a one city state because if u look at history, those type of nations disappear the quickes, they came together in one place or town and fall to it also. 😆

I refuse due to inherent and irreconcilable differences between the two major blocs. Also who are you proposing this plan to? Do you think the people who sit in xamar will be deterred by boldly declaring absence from Union? You think they’ll stop their machinations on PL and change tack completely? I know we puntlanders value reason and don’t get me wrong this is a more than reasonable plan, but we make the mistake of thinking all are open to reason and persuasion.
