An alternative? Hawiye doesn't go ape-shit after we win the war and keeps their word. Isaaq/Dir rule somaliland/puntland and Hawiye/Dir rule the rest of Somalia.
Edit: Even after the war, secession could be a strategy to divide darood into favorable numbers for IRIR-SAMAALE dominance. Hawiye/Raxaanweyn/Dir outnumber PL/JL and would dominate politics legally. Isaaq would do the same up north as they currently do.
