Yup, he’s said these same things before , he went on rallies with this exact rhetoric. It’s nothing new.
And the Right/MAGA crowd has been attacking Somalia and Somalis nonstop on social media.
But realistically, not much is going to happen to Somalis in Minnesota or to Ilhan Omar. They live in a city that’s about 85% Social Democrat-leaning. Most Somalis are legal citizens with no criminal records or history, and they work honestly. Ilhan Omar has tight security around her , around the clock.
This is more about trying to gatekeep political office , to keep nonwhite Democrats out and push to deport immigrants. But they can’t actually do it, because the law protects Somalis.
So all they can really do is rage online, throw out conspiracies, and smear people, because they know they can’t remove them from the country. They call for her deportation knowing full well they have no legal path to make it happen.
Another reason I think this will blow over is that there’s a massive counter-movement building. You can already see major shifts , people are trying to elect socialists and progressives into office, and there are nationwide movements forming to challenge economic elites.
The average Cadaan actually really dislikes MAGA and the right. There have been nationwide anti-Trump protests against him and a lot of the people protesting are former supporters who’ve turned on him.

Don't forget all his anti-Mexican/Hispanic statements during his first term. Did anything actually come out from that? Hardly. He is nothing more than a showy demagogue who is looking to impress his supporters who already held deep seated convictions against Somalis and other minorities. Its all noise at the end of the day like you said and its starting to look like people aren't buying his rhetoric since little so far has been done about the economy, job market, housing ect

It’s hard to convince people that Somalis, minorities, Muslims, Mexicans, and immigrants are the problem when their own economic and living situation keeps deteriorating.
A lot of people just aren’t buying into that narrative anymore , only the loud, botted mobs on social media eat it up. Real, everyday working people don’t.
Go to the 5:59 mark in this video, where he asks former Trump voters in one of the poorest regions of America (West Virginia):
He asks “You are living in the richest country in the history of the world , do you feel that down here?”
And they simply say: “No.” and list their troubles.
Outside of the deranged mob on social media, a big portion of people who voted for him did so because they thought he would fix their economic problems , he was seen as an outsider.
Boy, did that backfire on them.
They even go through the history of the state , how it used to be at the heart of the labor movement before the Democratic establishment abandoned them for wealthy elites in the cities.
