Do you think your grandchildren will be born and raised in the west?

I can only decide where my children are raised and it's up to them where my grandchildren are raised. Right now I don't even know where I want to live.

I don't know if he was executed. My grandfather migrated from baadiye to britain just to see him. when he visited him in jail, he told him that the prison guards castrated him and abused him in jail.

btw are you a second or third generation ?

That sounds brutal.

I was born in the West, I always considered myself first generation though but not sure if the term varies from country to country.

This is what wikipedia is telling me, apparently you can be 1.25 or 1.75.

The term first-generation may refer either to a person who has immigrated to a new country and been naturalized, or to the children of such an immigrant. The term second-generation consequently may refer to either the children or the grandchildren of such an immigrant.

Perhaps in the early years I'll raise my kids in Hiraan, but I also don't want them to fall behind in schooling so they will be in the west during their preteen-teen years.

Culture and Language is really important and I want to make sure I pass that down.

I'd raise my kids in the West. Having the same mentality and logic as the people I see here at home today would be dangerous for my children. But I'd make sure that I raise them at least for 3 years in Somalia, show that can learn their culture and language.

I will retire with this, somewhere in Nabadland.

*Nabadland is a new state in Somalia.

Some will some will not

They will make their own choices, I suspect the older ones will be a bit conservative, while the younger ones might end up on the liberal spectrum and never leave the west. I just hope they all keep in touch and communicate.

Whatever the case, I will raise them like my mother raised me, to be decent people that respect humanity as a whole, respect the earth and even animals. I want them oozing with hope and radiating positivity. :)

A dream of mine would be for my children and grandchildren to be raised in a peaceful and prosperous Somalia, where they can hold on to their deen and dhaqan. Where they can contribute and be successful in their society. Whether that dream of mine will be fulfilled, would be up to the will of Allah.

I'm from the UK and I certainly don't want my children, let alone my grandchildren to be raised here. If Somalia is not possible for me due to instability, then I would want my kids to be raised in the steppe regions of Transoxiana.
