I joined this POC discord server and I didn't know black africans don't wet their hair daily. They say it dries out their hair but it doesn't need a full wash with shampoo and a scrub...which had me thinking do us and other horners have a whole culture of hair wash and care that other blacks don't yet

Well if they spray water in their hair & they say it dries it up, then they’re doing it wrong. They’re supposed to wet it, then moisturise it & seal it with an oil

curly hair is meant to be washed once a week. Any more than that and you’ll just damage your hair. Those people keep their braids in for months.

Key word wet. I didn't say a whole soak your hair wash with shampoo etc. Not gonna speak for girls who have longer hair, but I can't imagine spending days to weeks out and about and in bed and not even refreshing it with a little water or running wet hands thru them

This is what I mean, feels like black americans are just learning now about untangling (timaha furfur) and moisturizing with oils which is what I mean by hair culture

I disagree. Some people with coarse hair just don’t know what to do with it perhaps due to a lack of understanding or they don’t care enough to maintain it because they could simply braid it up & wear a wig instead.

How is their hair a curse, if you could elaborate for me. Their hair has better grip than looser/straight hair. Their twists would stay in place & their afros grow upwards which I find cool

Not him but I think they're clueless how to manage hair. Blows my mind the way they used to comb it before the capitalist taught them about conditioner and detangling

In a harsh manner. If I hear one of my hair strands snap, I’d shed a tear lmaooo. My hair is everything. I have to brush it out very carefully & take my time
