Do most somali parents have a problem with their sons growing out their hair?

Nah I'll look like a 5head extraterrestrial if I were to cut my dreads , f*ck having a size 1 haircut bruh those days are long gone that shit is not meant for us as , there's nothing wrong growing long hair for men our ancestors before us rocked with afro it not only benefits you but vastly unique
Unfortunately the cultural shifts and religion played a role of the rapid change of their appearances , having a short hair is Sunnah hence they want to achieve that

I first started growing freeform when I was 16 rocked with it then shaved it off after social and peer pressure , isolation from the somalis I was often stigmatized labelled
shaydaan and a bad influence to other kids

I regretted cutting it off started growing back two years ago and dreads are longer
Sometimes a fade and buzzcut on the edges but never cutting dreads again!

Rastoole till the day I die

You're much stronger in conviction than i am sxb. I too had an interest in locks ever since high school and I've even attempted to grow them out on multiple occasions. But unlike you, I succumbed to social pressure each time and was forced to chop em off.

Eventually, I got so tired of being clowned by every Somali i ran into I decided that it just wasn't worth the hassle. Regrettably, I only ever made it to the ugly stages of locks and never even got to enjoy the end result

Maybe some day I'll be strong enough to firmly say no to the stubborn please of my family, but until then, I'll rock a size 2 cut lmao. idk why hair is even that serious but such is life:(

Btw sxb, I use to call it dreads too until i realized that there was nothing dreadful about them. I call em locks now as apposed to using a term invented by people who hate this style of hair.

I had near shoulder length hair last year, and currently growing it out again. Everyone acted like they were shocked at first, but now no one notices as it has just become my look.

Long hair is natural and just better.

long hair equals lazy men

No bro,

The prophet PBUH had long hair, and so did all the prophets, did you know this?

Hair is a natural growth on your head, as long as you take good care of it, whether it be long or short. Remember long hair actually requires more management and care than short hair. So to have healthy long hair you cannot be lazy. In fact it is easier to cut it every 2 weeks than to grow it out long and care for it.
