Djibouti is far more Arab than what you guys actually assume. Not in an ethnic sense, since they only represent a sensible minority, but culturally it is probably the one city who's been the most influenced but Yemen and people recognize it.

If I remember correctly they were not involved (outside of Soviet bases in the PDRY attacking Eritreans and supplying Ethiopians). They only got involved after the Somali Democratic Republic appealed to the United States for assistance.

There are East Africans who have been in Yemen for generations. Much longer than the recent Yemeni refugees in Djibouti. Yet, you don’t see them mentioned as being part and parcel of the tribes of Yemen.

I have been to Djibouti and when I had to renew my visa and while waiting in line, there was a Yemeni man who told me that those from Yemen and Somalia shouldn’t need visas for Djibouti. He was equating Somalia with Yemen as if Somalis and Yemenis are both native to Djibouti. Ka waran the audacity.

Reer Djibouti need to wake up and curtail these people. Somalia too. Remind them of their place.

The only Arabs who we owe hospitality are the Syrians supposedly, not Yemenis. After Centuries of trade etc, with Yemenis, how did they repay us? By jumping in for Ethiopia and by mistreating our refugees. I don't know what kind of spell some Somalis are under. I think they believe that being overly accommodating to these people means being a better Muslim.

And South Yemen has been influenced by Somalis for Centuries, they even wear diracs and pretend it's their cultural garment. We still don't see Yemenis acknowledge Somali cultural input, let alone give Somalis the respect of being seen as a legitimate demographic in their country.
