I don't think it is just for heat protection purposes. Australian Aborigines in the Oz outback got jileec hair and have lived there for 50,000 years.

It is mainly because of allelic drift (random mutations becoming fixed in a population).

It also takes tens of thousands of years to evolve it. Amerindians in the Amazon tropical forest still got the Chinese hair while logically you'd expect them to have African hair for their climate.

We are living in that time now because of social media. Lip injections to get fuller lips, curls are becoming more popular, tan skin and butt implants many are altering their appearance to look more black. There's even that woman from Germany that turned herself dark with melanin injections to look more African and other whites claiming to be mixed but actually being fully white.

My mother hates my siblings and I Madow hair with PASSION.

Somalis do not treat* other Somalis differently based on hair type alone.

*(when it comes to daily interpersonal interaction)

Only when it comes to dating and/or marriage may this become an issue and why is that any different than judging based on looks like physical fitness or symmetry. If a person has a hair type preference for spouses it is not an illegitimate one to have.

Somalis don't discriminate on hair, what Somalis don't like is unkempt hair. It is associated with roughness, have you ever seen a beggar with a trim?

Everyone here has relatives who rocked Afros in the 70s, that alone should disperse this myth.

As for hair texture, the standard is a mix of curls and kink, how good it looks depends on your style and how well you look after it.

I doubt most women like them over their own. Just in American/Western media are they hyped up and only in recent years (not the past). This is definitely not the case in the Arab world or Asia where billions live.

Healthy Madow hair is in fashion. I actually prefer it its much stringer than my baby hair that cant cant scarf let alone chemicals.. Madow hairs are disliked because most pll with Madow hair ruined their hair with excessive chemicals so they have damaged hair some have to wear wigs because of it. Madow hair is nice without all the chemicals.
