It is what langaabs do when they don't have strenght or numbers, of course I won't understand since I come from the most landheere tribe :francis:
lol ni99a ain't no one more laandheere than a Irir Samaale geesi.

@anonimo @CaliTedesse do the Gurgura consider themselves Somali? I read about a similar situation in Babile, but if the oromoized Somalis consider themselves oromo, carry an oromo flag, and are supported by the oromo militias and admin... what's the difference?

The Gurgura were never assimilated into the Oromo clan system unlike some other Somali subclans in the Afran Qallo confederation. However, due to some of them cohabiting with the Oromo after a section of the Gurgura adopted farming, many of them are socio-linguistically Oromo. They nonetheless still retain their Somali lineage and identify as Gurgura first. The Gurgura are the native clan of the Dire Dawa region hence why it is important to have them on your side when it comes to ethnic politics. However, I fear that the cutthroat nature of politics in Dire Dawa might push the Gurgura and the Ciise further apart.

By the way, the issue in Dire Dawa might now have gone beyond Melka Jebdu as there are reports that the conflict has spread to other parts of the City. It might not be longer a conflict between Ciises and Gurguras.

What a joke dir are when they allow half of their subclans to claim oromo 1 day and dir the next :susp:

Half of Dir are found in Oromo?:ulyin:

Nigga, you should be concerned about Darood Oromos in Hararghe before commenting on Dirs that are assimilated in the Afran Qallo confederacy.

It is not a coincidence that many border towns are now being attacked by oromo militia who are supported by the oromo regional admin. They're all saying the same thing too, they bring oromos from other regions with them and claim the land as oromo, and that it is worse than what has happened in the past.

Don't trust 80% of the fake news coming out of Ethiopia.

Some faction in the horn for some reason wants Somalis to have an all out conflict with the Oromo.

Wonder who will gain in the end?

I'm sure there are people who want to see such a war and I see some Ethio accounts on twotter pushing it (they're also very anti Abiy). But how does that discount the fact that it's actually happening? There are tons of first hand accounts of what's happening. How do you ignore it?

Those events could've easily been orchestrated by those same people.

Their goal is to induce distrust and tension between the two groups so that we'd never become allies in Ethiopian politics.

Not only am I going to ignore them... I'm also going to tell others to do so aswell.

I want was best for all Somalis but we obviously disagree on what that is.

Petty clashes in manufactured conflicts won't secure a better future for our next generation.

Since we lost the Ogaden war, the xabashi have been making us run around in circles fighting pointless conflicts.

Half of those ppl that posts those tweets are paid digital agent provocateurs while the other half are poor ignorant sods that have been tricked into doing our enemies bidding for them.

Who says fight? The people there and in the IDP camps need support, people need to know about what's happening to them. Then there will be pressure on the Ethio govt to do something about it. I don't see how ignoring them helps.

Walal, your information mainly comes from social media etc.

Do you know how long the border between the Somali and Oromo Zone is? The conflict between has mainly taken place in contentious areas such as Moyale (Garre and Boran), Fafan Zone (Geri and the Jaarso Confederation) and Mieso (Hawiye and Ittu). You will not hear of that much conflict between Somalis and Oromos in the other borderlands as the situation depends on the relations between the neighbouring clans in question.

In regard to Babile, most of it is not even part of the Somali Zone as the Babile Hawiyes voted to become part of the Oromo Zone due to the animosity that existed between them and the Ogaden.

Hence, it is difficult to ascertain if Oromos are attacking Somalis or if it is a case of assimilated Somalis attacking other Somalis because most of the Hawiyes in Babile were assimilated into the Afran Qallo Babile Oromo clan structure. For example, the Babile Hawiyes fought before in the late 80's.

As for Dire Dawa City, it is a Federal Zone and most of the recent violence is communal in nature. It is no different than the violence in Addis in that you have all sorts of Ethiopians there even though the original inhabitants of the area are the Gurgura clan; followed by the Ciise; and the Noole/Afran Qallo who established neighbourhoods next to the Gurgura who they intermarry with. However, there are probably as many Habashas/other Ethiopians as Somalis or Oromos in the city. The rural surroundings of Dire Dawa are nonetheless mainly Gurgura and Ciise. Thus, the ethnic make-up of the wider Zone is not in doubt nor is anyone expanding into anyone else's territory but one cannot deny that the city itself is cosmopolitan. However, what is worrying is that the Ciise and Gurgura do not exactly see eye to eye on many issues.

Thanks for the information walaal. Question though, would you say you place more importance on clan or nation? As in, do you still feel closely connected to Somalis who have fully been oromoized and view themselves as a part of the oromo nation? *Not that I have any ill will towards any group, I just would like to understand your view.
