The truth is, Desalegn and the UAE are keeping Somaliland under life support, so in order to carry on as an independent state, we must change our policy towards Ethiopia, whilst still reaping the benefits.

Ethiopia's influence wasn't properly this strong under Riyaale. Now they dedicate who can
invest or not in Sland. For example investments by Egypt are not welcomed due to Ethiopia

thankfully siilanyo admin is moving away from Ethiopia first with the UAE base which they were against and now with the Kuwaiti firm running the airport rather than the Ethiopian firm.

I understand that but imo, I think it'll be harder to be "self-sufficient" when you give rich arabs access (same with the Americans, the Chinese especially, etc) to important areas. All foreign countries have their own ulterior motives, no doubt, but the difference is that the Ethio gov doesn't have as much power/money to monopolize SL.
