I don't know but probably. My dad was in Russia for some time before he decided to come to Finland in 1991. He was working in Iraq in 1988 but after 6 months he decided to head to Europe. There were only 45 Somalis in Finland in 1990.

I have one close relative in Finland, and he was a former student in Russia and when shit hit the fan in Somalia around 1991 he went to Finland (by car) and applied for asylum there. He's now in his 50s and has half Finnish kids.

My dad told me stories of when he first arrived. He said they were staring at him and other group of Somalis like they were in a zoo. They've never seen a black person prior to the 90s. I am convinced Somalis were the only dark skinned people they have ever seen. It changed around 1994 to late 90s though. My mom arrived in Finland in 1994. They both met in Somalia so he sponsored her.Wasn't there tons of skinheads in Finland terrorizing Somalis back in the 1990's?
