Kiitos. It's because I was a bit of a trouble maker in school and hyper so she feared social services might try to take me away from her and then decided to come to the UK.

Most Somalis living in the U.K originally came from other EU countries which damaged the older Somali community who were known hard workers and had a good reputation. Now it's mostly benefit leachers and poor education performances from what I have heard.

It definitely played a part as it became easier to get houses compared to flats even though a lot still live in flats. Racism and a lack of opportunities to progress also played their part.

It's more to do with learning English, especially for the Somalis in the other euro countries. Many Finnish people speak good English though.

Many of them thought that British education was superior = (international language etc). And the bigger Somali community. They didn't come for the lower benefits of the UK.

True, the economy and jobs was also a big reason as well, 2nd biggest after Germany in the EU with the added benefit of being an english speaking nation as well.

Toronto is extremely diverse, and majority East Asian/South Asian. Why would you rather go to Finland than Toronto, when Toronto is way more accepting and has more of a Somali population?

Nordic countries are always at the top of all the human development stuff.. but IMO it's kinda of boring to live there, but good to raise kids etc.

IMO, raising kids in those kinds of countries that are pre-dominantly white would be a bad idea. It was easy for me growing up in Toronto, where my schools & neighbourhoods were very diverse.

There's a sizable Somali community in Finland. Stop being scared of cadaan. If you can't handle living in a homogenous cadaan country then Canada is for you I guess.

An old friend of mine has been deported and another one is being deported (likely anyway) towards the end of next year. As far as I know, neither of them speak the language of their birth country.
