What the hell!

I’ve never had that in a Somali household.

Dude done made up his own fusion of other ethnic foods and now claims that it’s Somali :noneck:

I like Xawash, I wish we had something similar in MN, all we have here are 10 million Somali restaurants that are all below average selling the same shit.

We should be thankful of our ReerXamar brothers and sisters who introduced our current delicious cuisine to us including xawaash spice, bariis, bajiye, sambuuse etc. Our nomadic diet mainly consisted of meat and milk before. Never forget :)

Cuisines are all about cultural appropriation.

Tomatoes are from the Pacific region of South America.. yet it is a staple in the Italian cuisine.

This pioneer has my full support.

You can't create a dish out of nothing.

Like it was said above. He's enriching our culture and this menace is shitting all over his effort.

The key to Somali cooking is xawaash spice mix – translated it means “the essentials”. It’s often described as in between ras el hanout and garam masala, which is how I think of Somali food: in between Arabic and Indian, with African thrown in. When you make it, it will come as no surprise to know Somalia was called “Regio Aromatica”, or the aromatic isles, by the ancient Romans.
