imo yes. so even if a somali leaves islam technically they are still somali, but in the real world other somalis will discriminate against them and not really include them in any somali functions. So, in that regard they are no longer "somali"

Michael Mariano was a somali Christian politician from Habar Jeclo tribe, he fought for the independence and later uniting the nation we call Somalia today. He is one of the most prominen xornimodoon figures in our history, drafting many documents integral to the blessed SYL movement, he fought hard to bring hawd reserve area from the clutches of the Abyssinian colonizers way before 1977. Your statement is not true otherwise he'd be gone from somali history books. He was and remains as much of a somali as you are if not more important.

Him embracing Islam doesn't effect his somalinimo or his prior accomplishments in any way, he was and will always be celebrated as a somali legend wether he was a Christian or Muslim during his life.

People who say Somalia had no history before Islam are being intellectually dishonest. There's a lot of shit buried under all that sand. Rendille and Somali are 2 of the 42 ethnic groups in Kenya and never in their history did they(Rendilles) live in Jubaland, I think you are mistaking them for Wardey Oromo.
Wardey oromo & Rendile both lived in Jubaland before Ogadeen destroyed them. Rendile were serfs to the Oromos even completely conquered before Jebretis even showed up
