The pre-civil war had identity it was different from the rest of the world. The mixes of native Somali, Arab, Persian, Indian, Italian/British/French and Swahili architectural styles. Formed a unique building style which echoed somali history through the walls.

The second video looks impressing to the uneducated and uncultured fob. Its a shallow metropolis which could be placed in any part of the world and fit in. It resembles no culture or people. Its only goal is to be an tool of financial means. The vestige of any heritage is scarce.

Im not going anywhere near homes built post 91, just 'fowdo'. Good quality homes were built during siyad era. Modernist is 'dated' it will get 'old' quick, but lot of modernist home synthetically look good on the outside but internal material is the 'lowest grade'

There needs to be more building regulations. They should limit the building of buildings that don't fit the local style.

The ottoman mosque would be an exemption as its a joint project and out of respect it would be built in a ottoman style.

However your average day mosque should reflect the local building styles.
