Because I’m not utterly naive. What is the ideal somalinimo? The one where the president takes pics with convicted war criminals who burned my people alive? Or that one that invites every caan social media personality that insults my clan and hawiye clans specifically hiraab to villa somalia? Or the one where my people are viewed with such distain and called secessionist with such venom that it’s quite shocking. Because last time my elders fell into that somalinimo they ended up getting bombed to the ground.
Instead of being so hostile to somalilanders you have to ask yourself what made people who gave up their 26th of June sovereignty up and came to Mogadishu so anti Somali. It doesn’t come from no where.
My Great grandparents and my gran parents probably went to Burco in 1960. all of a sudden, in my Dad's childhood post 1977 he became a 2nd class citzen in his "so called" country. plus, both my grandfather's hometown Burco and my dad's hometown Hargeysa got destroyed. fast forward 2019, There is no somaliweyn flag displayed in my living room. But, the flag of the country of my descendances, curtesy of my father who brought it one day in the mid 2000s from a lander shop keeper after picking me and my brother up from Islamic education classes.
When I hear about stories about what happened to reer sheikh isaaq 30 years ago it upsets me from the teenage sa'ad musa girl from Gabiley who got tortured and the deaths and murders of people in the issaq heartland and beyond to the land grab victimisation of HY in sannag.
I was think to myself why I am not down for the "midnimo" unity of greater Somalia cause. But, I then realised the same people that advocate that are the ones the loath me greatly. it's sort of like a chicken going to kfc for an isaaq clansman or woman. in addition, I generally do believe that SL should be recognised as a country. just like I believe Djbouti should be its own country and continue to be inshallah,
