Why do Somalis place such importants and take islam serious compared to other muslims like Turks, Indians and other african ethnic groups like Mandes,Serer or Yorubas as i see islam just a religion the Somali people adopted in the 7th century. I've observed this for a decade now please give your thoughts on this or is because Somali people adopted islam earlier before these ethnic groups i have mentioned

Calm down is it general question but as i wanted to know why Somalis take it serious don't guilt trip me you fool as i'm muslim but Somali first. Ethiopians have been christian since the fourth century but have preserved there culture and script.

My own answer to the question is because Islam is a religion that thrives best in arid/desert regions. Five prayers suit nomads who are busy out all day. Napping in ramadan? Somalia is hot so it works. So the religion itself has become very entrenched in Somali society. We were more lax before the civil war, but with foreign threats comes protectionism. So Somalis went from wearing guuntino in public to wearing Somali-style jilbaab. This phenomenon is seen in other unstable countries like Iran etc.
But i'm not an Islamic scholar so idk the real answer, that's just my hypothesis

Why is it the case with our neigbour Ethiopian preserving there culture,language and script compared to us.

A genuine observation: I haven't seen any other ethnicity believe that they're muslim before their ethnicity en-masse like this. If there are let me know I'm open to hearing this out, but I haven't seen it yet.

Maybe because Ethiopians care more about their traditions, they were a powerhouse back in the day. Even if Islam took precedence over us we still kept out language unlike Sudan. So we should be happy with that although I wish arabicbwas our second language.
Why can't you just be both at the same time. Are they in competition with each other?

Your first mistake is assuming Somalis have lost their culture, language and script.
1 & 2) Somalis have preserved their culture and language, I've made a thread on this before.
3) Somali ancient scripts aka wadaad was not preserved because it never expanded beyond being a liturgical script.
Secondly, osmanya was never in wide-use.
Thirdly, any other hypothetical Somali scripts that have yet to be deciphered/discovered were lost for reasons unknown to us because no one knows what they are lol

Yes you can be both but I do not know how old are you but you are naive not putting your ethnicity,culture and people first. Let me ask you a question how come you have Somali,Afghan,Pakistani,Kurdish,Algerian.Turkish and Bengalis mosques,
I'm not saying you can't or shouldn't identify with your ethnicity, but if you're gonna choose to put being your ethnicity over being muslim, you've fully lost the plot. Because being Somali doesn't go against you being Muslim. Those two things aren't in competition with each other whatsoever.
I'm not really tapped in with what guys from other ethnicities put first but you do see the sane rhetoric when it comes to discussions of interethnic marriages. But that really is mostly from younger people. Or from salafis that would say nationalism is kufr
I'm just arguing that when you say you're Somali before you're muslim, it sounds like you'd go against the deen just to satisfy some nationalistic desire.
