Connecting the Diaspora to Somalia

I do not know if any of you have realized it, but Somalia belongs to the youth wether the diaspora or the locals in Somalia.. I was thinking about connecting the Somali Diaspora especially the youth to Somalia when it comes to politics and jobs via. an Organization. With offices in every major city in the west with a huge Somali population and with cities in Somalia including Somaliland. Through this organization new businesses in Somalia can come in contact with Somalis in the west. We will also create other branches for example a political movement, lobby groups etc. We have educated people, we have the wealth and all the resources, I am tired of seeing old warlords, clan elders and the same folks who destroyed Somalia, to rule and lead Somalia. Its time for us folks to step up 75% of Somalis are under the age of 30, yet every Somali leaders is above 50.

If we don't do anything, these old folks will lead Somalia to destruction, our dhaqan, culture and faith will fade away, the 3rd and 4th generation of Somali immigrants would probably be exposed to filth like lgbt, feminism, liberalism and atheism/agnotism way mire than we are right now. How many Somali 2nd generation immigrants have fallen, left their faith and dhaqan, lost all connection to Somalia. Even I speak with my family back home 1-3 times a month.

If you want wealth, true freedom and everything you desire please invest back home, connect with your roots, because people with no roots will fall easily. Somalia has so much potential, that it can definitely surpass many countries and become maybe like Indonesia or Malaysia

Folks back home depend a lot on remittance from the Diaspora, when our parent's generation retires, the amount of money sent home will decrease sharply every year.

Diaspora Somali's in their 20's hardly speak Somali, most of them won't be sending hundreds of dollars back home every month.

This will be a massive problem for us to face.

The Somalis in my social circle are very westernized and nearly shown zero interest in Somalia. There isn't much to look forward to when your already at the complete opposite of Somalia.

And I agree with you. Somalia has a bountiful supply of low hanging fruit to make are generation greatly wealthy

Maybe I should forget about the Diaspora and focus on just Somalia and the locals. I think the Diaspora could be of great help, but Somalia can go forward without any external help.

I have plans for somalia,i wanna build hella houses and lease them out(use that as passive income for retirement).I might start up small scale business's here and there but my main venture would be real estate.I wish I was like 10-15 years older, i woulda built an apartment complex for cheap in bosaaso in like 2008.It would consist of 6 floors and 4-5 apartments in each floor, then you could lease out the 30 or so apartments for 250-300 per month which in total provides anywhere between 6k-9k US dollars per month of passive income. With that sorta money you're a king in Africa, beats the 9-5 cycle we have going on here. :rejoice: .

I believe there are things that needs to be done, before your investment can be fruitful. I myself want businesses and real estate to invest in, but the problem is that there is no security, 73% of Somalis live in poverty. So my best idea to change this is through a political youth movement that can pressure those in power.

I agree walaal but the diaspora has brought a lot of corruption into Somalia. I think there should be more somali born and raised in the government than qurba joog.
