Confederalism - The Solution for Somalia?

Federalism has already failed and no one wants it besides your state. You act like you can just leave the and we will let you, very delusional.
Jubbaland wants federalism and I doubt Koonfur Galbeed would under free conditions support a central government from Xamar considering they founded the idea.

The Hirshabelle and Galmudug communities cant form one joint state (or even two seperate functioning states) but want to force everyone back into a centralized state in xamar, simply makes no sense.

In reality its because Xamar is their perceived backyard and they want all the power back in their hands. If the capital was moved to say, Bossaso would Hawiyes in general support a centralist state?

Puntland will only leave if Federalism fails.

The Centralist leaning N&N hasn't been honest about implementing it.
federalism hasn't failed just some disagreements that's just been resolved a few days ago like always but a constitution might help everyone know where they stand

Madoobe wants federalism and Madoobe is not Jubaland. I have a good idea of why you support him. No one wants federalism except clanist people. You don't see people from these regions crying about federalism. It's only PIM and Madoobe supporters. Look at your coded clannish talk "their perceived backyard". Hawiye, Rahanwein, Darood(minus PIM and Madoobe's crew), and Dir will support centralism.

Southern Dir are a minority. Im from Jubbaland so obviously I support Madoobe and federalism (its in my interests). If foreign soldiers weren’t used against Koonfur Galbeed would they have given up Roobow?

You want to prop up leaders that are stooges and act as though they are representing their clans when they are unnatural plants.

My talk is “clannist” but yours is fine? Is Xamar not a Hawiye majority city? Did 1991 not happen? Ogaden, Majeerteen, and Raxanweyn don’t support a centralist government in Xamar nor would northern dir ever consider coming back to such an arrangement. If its not clannist why they want centralism, let them move the capital.

This is Somalia’s only hope. I’ve noticed the only people against it are the homeless communities who want to loot state funds again.

Also confederation/federalism isn’t going anywhere. The majority of Somalis (KGS/PL/JL) support it and if it is attacked balkanization will be the next step.

We’re in today’s situation because of a dictator.:camby:

No, the country has been without a dictator for 30 years, same length of time as independence to the fall of the dictator.

Somalis have no one to blame than their themselves.

italian somalia as a single, separate country must have a strong central govt which federalism and centralism both allows. its critical somalia the ex italian colony is composed of the old 13 regions which existed before their union with Somaliland dissolved in May 1991. PL, JL et al must cease to exist and a benevolent HAG dictator must rule all of Italian Somalia

Well when the dictator committed numerous genocides and pit people against eachother in an already tribal society (that was on a path of eradicating tribalism). That has lasting effects doesn’t it.

Most destructive Somalis in the past 50 years.
1.Siad Barre
2.Caydiid
3.Cali Mahdi
4.Abdullahi Yusuf
5.Godane

My rating for InaGodane would not be related to clan. he was irrelevant in Isaaqistan from Hawd to SL and any AS leader would have done as much damage.

Caydiid should not be above the CaliMahdi or CaliGeeddi whobis not on the list. 3 words TPLF in Muqdisho

Godanes importance amongst Isaaq is not why hes on the list. If you read Harun Marufs book you would understand the particular evil of Godane and how he (among others) turned Islamic Courts (mild organization) into the current cursed situation.

Caydiid from what I know is the most central figure of the 1991 purge in Mogadishu. Its his senseless violence which lead to the deep mistrust clans have for eachother in the south. Its because of him why xamar will never be seen as the home of all Somalis.

Cali Mahdi was after because he spoiled the hegemony of Hawiye which was at the very least better than endless anarchy.

Feel free to disagree.

Sad reality is a brutal dictator is the best of the alternatives for Somalis. The people are too savage and too stupid. Its been far worse since the dictator has fell.

Btw it was the dictator that was putting in policies trying to eliminate tribalism (meanwhile boosting his marehan ppl and others like dhulbahante, etc.)
