Alawites are 1 million and they dominate the sunni majority. I think they're like jews, they have to think strategically to survive.

I heard if it wasn't for Iran, Russia and various outside forces coming in to help Assad, his regime would have fell. Allahu a'lam.

I'd have to look more into it but what I heard was that ISIS was actually used to attack the Sunni resistance. Look at the role ISIS plays in Afghanistan. I kind of think ISIS is just another way of spelling CIA. And one Bashar Al Assad is bad enough, the world needs one less not any more.
