By 2021 the high-speed rail network in China stretches for 37,900 km, while its entire rail track length runs for over 141,000 km. By 2035, the high-speed network will have increased to 70,000 km!

What China has been able to achieve in such little time is mind-blowing, sometimes it gives me hope for Somalia and what we could achieve once we reconcile and work together

Agreed. Someone like Paul Kagame would be perfect for Somalia but first reconciliation on all sides must be achieved.

I like the enthusiasm but i think it's important to emphasise China was a super power then it got cucked for 100 years aka Century of Humilation. Now it's a super power again.

The Soviet Union rose as an ideologically driven authoritarian State; it was never truly owned by just one man -- even at the height of Stalin's power.

These commie block buildings are too much and just for show, I think most people would agree, but the amount of roads, hospitals, schools, airports, railways etc they have built in such a short span of time is impressive. They also have projects to help ensure self sufficiency. They are building gigantic fields to grow food and cultivate grains, this leads to food security, epically for such a large population. They are also planning to create the biggest forest on the planet to help combat deforestation caused by the Gobi desert. Things like these are something we should copy.

An independent Infrastructure Authority could be accorded the power to formulate and implement infrastructure projects so that no politician or political party could claim credit. This could be done within a democracy; Central Banks already operate in this way.

On topic. , I just hope we don’t get a brain dead president to accept the railroad project of our brain dead, invasive cousins. Not that we’re any more better (maybe still better by 1%, I reckon).
As for any railroad projects in Somalia…well, have people ever proposed a route linking both S.Africa, the southern portion of the horn, and the peninsula? I’m saying this as I assume Ethiopia’s land would be quite unsuitable for such project.

Back to the Chinese, well, I’m guessing people already know these dudes are exhausting their financial resources plus their president is simultaneously facing a power struggle.

Yes, but most African 'Governments' are already thoroughly authoritarian, and the results have been absolutely disastrous; the more democratic 'Governments' in Sub-Saharan Africa are doing better than their authoritarian counterparts.
