Why are castles in some other countries so well preserved but a lot of these look like ruins?

Is it the desert climate and wind?

In regards to the Kingdom of Majeerteenia and the Sultanate of Hobyo:
because they are ruins of a destroyed Kingdom and a destroyed Sultanate.

The Italians bombed the Kingdom of Majeerteenia and the King was forced to move to Mogadishu.

The Sultan of Hobyo was imprisoned for refusing to fight the Dervishes and sent to prison in Eritrea where he eventually lost his eyesight.

All these Castles and Forts are suffering from years of neglect and natural decay.
