Can’t stop watching gore videos.

For those who don’t know, watching gore is when you voluntarily view real life videos of people dying, getting brutally injured, or otherwise ceasing to function as humans, usually in the worst ways imaginable.

I think I might be addicted. And honestly, I don’t even think it’s a bad thing. I feel like watching this kind of stuff regularly has actually helped me. I’ve become more focused, less emotional, and weirdly more appreciative of life.

It started when a friend casually showed me a video of a cartel beheading, no warning, just handed me his phone. I was shocked, yeah. But also kind of curious afterwards? It was surreal.

A couple weeks later I found a site with more videos. I clicked one. Then another. Then five. Then I found myself eating while watching someone’s head come off with a kitchen knife and I didn’t flinch. Not even a blink. Just thought, “Damn. That knife’s sharp as a mf.”

At this point, I’ve seen things I probably shouldn’t have. But I feel calm. Centered. Some people journal. I watch someone get bisected by a train and it puts things into perspective.

Like, why would I stress over anything when there’s a guy in Brazil getting disassembled with a hammer for stealing a phone? Perspective matters.

And if I’m being honest, I feel sharper. More emotionally regulated. Less reactive. Almost enlightened, even.

If anything, I think more people should try it. Not like, a lot. But just enough to remind themselves what life really is, fragile, sudden, and extremely rated R.

What y’all think though?

You might feel enlightened now, but repeatedly watching traumatic and violent content can’t be good for the brain. What’s wrong with having an emotional response to extreme situations? Emotional detachment isn’t always a positive thing. Numbness to empathy isn't a good thing or even healthy.

Waryaa ninyahow this a dangerous way to think. With that mindset you will see a video of gazza atrocities or in sudan or in somalia ilahow kaas ka reeb, and you will think "meh this is not. A big deal". Perhaps a family member dies and you don't shed a tear. Death can be unrelated like in those videos but can come very close to you as well "wad waa loo wadaa dhinta"

I agree akhi, imshallah gonna stop watching this completely

If you wanna glorify being desensitized to gore why not make it useful become a crime scene cleanup technician. Or an emt, maybe a surgeon if you’re smart enough. Otherwise you’re not special. Like obviously if you expose yourself to something over and over it’s gonna feel like nothing tf. It’s like saying the sky is blue, okayyy?

And it’s ironic you say it’s for “perspective” when it seems (from the way you’re speaking) that everytime you watch this shit you’re really just divorcing yourself from the reality that that could be YOU you dumb b*tch. It doesn’t take a genius to know this kind of shit happens in the world you don’t have to be repeatedly exposed to it online to know that. Like You think you got anything on your parents and relatives that prob seen dead bodies in real life in Somalia ?

Tf you talking about “more people should try it” kulaha you are talking about using videos of actual people dying for your own little personal “growth” you sound dumb as f*ck sorry… acting like you an anime character go see some violence In real life then let’s see how tough you are
