Every African country that has had a violent struggle ends up a shithole. Places where power transitioned peacefully are much more functional (Botswana). This is because generally those who can lead an armed struggle are not those fit to lead a country in peacetime (Mugabe and Mandela). Both are heroes in their own right but neither were part of the intelligentsia.
Botswana is unique, including the fact even after independence Europeans still held ministerial offices until an educated generation of natives was formed. They also have a shit ton of diamonds. But really what they're first President did for them was amazing.
A testament to his popularity is the fact his political party has won every election in history.
Mugabe was a patriot, one of the greatest Blacks in history. RIP to him
He may have been corrupt and he may have ruined the economy of Zimbabwe but I rate him higher than Mandela. He had the spine to stand for his people unlike many African leaders today. Even today Zimbabwe is still under sanctions because they refused to be puppets like many other states in Africa and Asia.

You know why there are so many poor nations, it is not only due to mismanagement and corruption but it has to do with the way the west deals with those countries, often times countries are put on sanctions or limited through trade embargoes etc.. Why do you think many African countries are returning to China and Russia to form trade ties and alliance. The west acts good on the surface but their policies are evil and cripples nations.
Zimbabwe should be proud of Mugabe, he took back all land n wealth from the cadaans and for that he was punished by the west. Look at Naimbia zambia south africa all got white minority that own 80% + off their wealth in all those countries same with Uganda n indians. If every african leader was like Mugabe there’d be no western wealth in Africa. Ask yourself why is Mandela so praised? or MLK but likes off mugabe n malcolm x demonized
