Burkina Faso makes more in revenue from Gold than all Somali states combined

Sxb why are you so negative all of a sudden? This is Somalispot, sharing news about Somalia however small or big is fine.
Im just giving you a reality check sxp thats not something worth praising

Image flexing 40% electricity access wallahi you dont realize how embarassing that is

Its not flexing I'm doing, its showing what trends are happening in Somalia. If any praise is to be done, it would how Somalia is managing itself with barely any foreign investment.

Thinking on this, I wonder if this figure ignores the nomads in Somalia as well in which case it the access could be lower than 50%. @Idilinaa what do you think?

It's actually 61% nationally and 80% urban but these are stats from 2022-2023. It is lower in rural areas which is around 40%. which is what brings down the total to 61%

It's higher than than that overall now though since we are in 2025 there has been soo many expansion projects 2023-2025.

It's still is an amazing achievement because consider Somalia only had electricity access of 15% in 2012.

In that article they talk about the lack of foreign investment and the advancements in the energy sector was pushed by self-investment

whats puntland's and koonfur equivalent of sompower

BECO is the largest energy provider in Koonfur. NECSOM is puntlands largest energy provider. But there are many different ESPS.

But yeah we should give credit where credit is due , at the same time we can work to bridge the gap between the private sector and public sector.

Burkina Faso made 4B$ from gold exports in 2023

Lets compare that to Somali states revenue/budget

FGS revenue in 2023 : 738M$

View attachment 365420

Puntland in 2023 : 376M$

View attachment 365421

Somaliland in 2023 : 358M$

View attachment 365422

And Djibouti is approximately 500M$

If you add all these its still 2B$

Burkina Faso has around the same population than Somalia and don't pull the Al shabaab excuse cause they're in a similar situation

Ibrahim Traore took over in 2022 and gold revenues have gone even higher up since they nationalized other gold mines in 2024

This highlights the failure that is Somalia's government, what were they doing since 2004 (or 2012 depending who you ask)

Im leaning towards the idea that Somalia cant be saved, the south is a shitshow and theyre just dragging other somalis down with them
as well as their uranium profits and other metals
