BREAKING: UK declares Climate Change Emergency

The United Kingdom, in a world first, declared a climate change emergency yesterday in response to the "Extinction Rebellion" protests that warned, among other things, against overconsumption of meat, emitting more CO2 into the air, and clearing out ecosystems if the human race is to survive the next few centuries.

There are already multiple things we can do about this calamity that everything on the Earth faces:
-Artificial photosynthesis
-Nuclear energy
-Zaï and cordons pierreux farming techniques (currently spreading throughout the Sahel), which conserve water and create more forest cover to sequester CO2

Seems the Birth place of Malthus is still pushing out these theories underestimating humans ability to adapt:bell: his hypothesis was wrong and were still alive an will continue to be

Nuclear powerplants are safe and cheap, but not great for capitalism. Research on nuclear technology has improved greatly in the last 30 years. The problem is that the current running nuclear powerplants have been running for over 30 years, and the incentive to make expensive upgrades while an older reactor is still making money, well again, nuclear is not great for capitalism.

It's the mode we operate on at a planetary level which causes massive carbon emissions, not individuals. Normal people who are trying to get by would not change much by purchasing a Tesla because they are not contributing much to air pollution.

Also, the electric grid is still mostly coal. Capital still owns the means of production for electricity, and right now coal is still way more profitable than other energy sources. In fact, energy sources like solar, wind, hydroelectric and nuclear are often denigrated by oil companies because, again, their motive is making more money, not providing energy, They provide energy to make money.

All of that is true, but a change from coal to salt reactors (the best bet as far as nuclear reactors go). Capitalism will find a way around this mess, and the fossil fuel companies' slander is no longer working. As for the emissions, that is already being worked on in some countries, such as Bangladesh with their electricity free ACs. However, there are major obstacles, such as the Nigerian Delta pollution resulting from the oil war there, deforestation in the Amazon, Haiti, Borneo, and Africa, unscrupulous farming methods, and overpopulation. As an instagram post I saw said, all of us got ourselves into this pickle, now we must get ourselves out of it.

It’s ok, I’m prepared and have already accepted this planets fate. Invest in swimming classes folks

The problem is, the sea is dying because of it too. Look at the corals in Australia. Have fun still dying in the mass extinction like the rest of us
