Bosaso residents crying about lack of activity in Bosaso port

Scalability is what is destroying trade in Bosaso. As Berbera port gets larger more traders will use it for their lower fees & superior services.

I wouldn't be surprised if PL trading companies begin to merge with SL trading companies to buy bulk goods at a much cheaper cost through Berbera & ship by land to PL

That post was made by someone who does not understand how Bosaso works. It is a tiny port with a single berth for large ships. The image he posted contains three such ships. Berbera, Kismayo and Mogadishu could have all three ships dock at one time, while this is not possible in Bosaso. The two large ships in the background are in all likelihood waiting for the ship that is docked to disembark so they could dock next. Bosaso's single berth is 500 feet while Berbera is 2,130 feet long, Mogadishu is 3,116 feet, and Kismayo is 2,030 feet.

The only publicly available data regarding port activity is FSNAU's data on livestock exports, and as of last year Bosaso is exporting more livestock than Berbera for the first time since 2008.

Technically the tax you would have taken from the port is taken at the custom between laas canood and garowe. It strengthens the Maxmoud salebaan against the ali saleebaan and warsangeli who wield significant power in bosasso.

It also transforms laas canood garowe area into the Chicago of somalia. The midway point between new york (berbera/hargeisa) and LA (xamar).

Bosaso exported 1.2 million heads vs Berbera's 110,000 heads in 2019. So I don't know where you get the notion that Bosaso is failing. Puntland differs from Somaliland in the distribution of development/infrastructure where it's more or less equal across the state compared to Somaliland where it's mostly located in the western part from the Ethiopian border through Hargeisa to Berbera.
So there's no tribal animosity in terms of business/development or infrastructure.

I'm just distracted by how beautiful Bosaso is (Mashallah), white houses with the beach on one side, mountains on the other side and natural oases.. whew.

Rizq is provided by Allah and Puntland has always done well financially, Bosaso citizens on average, have a higher quality of life than most people and their merchants have diversified their portfolios.

So you can gloat and make up stories or focus on your own pockets.

Bro port is just to keep us afloat, we don't sit there thinking and living on it, we need to use it as base to move onto the next goal. Sxb the most taxes come from ur locals income tax ma garatay and without any real recognized skill any work opportunity will be given to foreigner or diaspora or anyone who has the skill and qualification. Why dont we talk about how to empower them rather then just talk about one taxation infrastructure like the south who dont think past that while their 99% are broke and al there is in hamar is diaspora money from puntland and the west. Yes IDP buy properties i heard and reinvest into hamar hence PL is considered foreign economy source for hamar market because we want to play with the rich while all the 16 xafaads are 1 dolalr a day, its cool bro, waa caadi you cant have the xafaads of hamar on more then 10 dollars a day, the second he is rich there is no CIYAAR

Ur rite:friendhug:
Puntland federal state of Somaliland
We are all the same people sxb, we might separate some parts of lands but we are all somalis at the end of the day and we share our country and our blood.

Our government has let us down so we have to separate but that doesn't mean we need to separate as people.

I don't hope for the demise of Bosaso Port but what did they expect... Look at this tweet, I said this years ago...

Why the f*ck did Puntland agree to a deal with daughter company of DP World...

They simply made sure no other competitors can strike a better deal with Bosaso...

If Puntland was snart they'd strike a 0.5-1 billion dollar deal with Qatar.. :bell:

Bosaso is not a deep water port and could never hold large ships at port. Its 6 inches deep underwater and was built to be a livestock port. The fact that you guys compare it to Berbera and Xamar ports is an indictment on the management of said ports:drakelaugh:. No excuse on not upgrading the port for close to 30 years though:deadmanny:
Somaliland didn't get a great deal but wallahi you guys are fools for selling your port for less to help DP World eliminate competition.....

While you could have gotten an amazing deal really with the backing of FGS... Yall fucked up worse att least Berbera will become larger and handle more ships...

Your leader takes bribe money over development on of your most important potential income source...

I'm actually disappointed....

From a sleepy, ancient town of around 1000 residents before 1991 to one of Somalia's most prosperous cities with a large population.

Bosaso is a success story for real.
Why strike a deal with the same company?? InshaAllah it even becomes a better success story..

Instead of doing the same shit we did yall could've really striked a better deal with the help of the Somali government.
