British Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson responded that "this is not the time to lift the arms embargo" and that the priority should be on helping Somalia's military work together with regional forces that already exist across the long-fragmented nation.

Good. The regional states under the AMISOM banner will fight Al-Shabab and secure Somalia in the meantime until Somalia is mature enough to handle importing arms without diverting it to Al-Shabab or clan militias.

China, France, America and Russia will also vote on lifting the arms embargo. China and Russia abstained last vote.

Europe, Britain and America have diverging interests in Somalia.

The arms embargo won't drop anytime soon. However Somalia could reach it's short term goals without the need of heavy weapons. If Farmaajo wastes his time on getting it removed instead of building a competent intelligence agency that could rout out terrorists then I'd be very disappointed in President Cheese.

By the way when you've got a location on Al-Shabaabs main camps... how difficult would it be to get Turkish or US air support just before you hit them with a ground offensive using light weapons?

Is this your way of triggering me? You need to try harder :sass2:
No it's my way of saying, while you try to point out the arms embargo you should really be embarrassed that Britain, the colonizer of Somaliland, has no intention of recognizing you. Boris said you lot need to reconcile. So instead of deflecting on Somalia focus on that ina abti. ;)

It's not like they're going to force unity for you guys. They've been clear on their stance for years now nothing new. :icon e biggrin:

This is a good development. Random militias shouldn't have any heavy weaponry. Imagine if there was another shootout between the militias in Villa Somalia, it would be a disaster. Imagine if they sold them to Al-Shabaab as they've done before.

They are not responsible nor capable handling heavy weaponry. Lets celebrate the amount of lives that have been saved.
