It all started from this vid where he claims Ottomans enslaved Somalis.

This is not the first time I've seen people making videos trying to say we were enslaved what do they get from lying. Why do they want us so badly to have been slaves? This is a sickness or something.

He is not completely wrong. All peoples in history have been enslaved at some point. The difference is between occasional enslavement and mass enslavement. White Europeans have suffered slavery way more than somalis, millions of white slavs have been enslaved by the Romans and later by the ottoman, the word slave itself comes from slavs. Western Europeans from Spain, Italy, France and even england have suffered enslavement at the hand of the north African pirates.Somalis may have suffered from occasional enslavement (there aren't even many sources to support that), but were never mass enslaved. The only clear cut undeniable instance of somalis being enslaved is unfortunately the modern libyan slave trade
