My African side came over here to America during 1940s and convert Roman catholic to fit in...........It didnt turn out well for them. I'm cool with being black, but miss me with that slave shit. If as u say part of your heritage is Afro Latino and maroon then there is a good chance that some in your lineage were taken as slaves from Africa. That doesn’t mean that u let it dominate your life but you would be foolish to not acknowledge it. If your ancestors were recent African immigrants then don’t make it your business but don’t shit about people who don’t want to keep quiet about it.
