Through his company Southern Ace, Paul Le Roux supplied AK-47s and light machine guns to Somali militias starting in April 2009, in violation of United Nations arms embargoes. He spent around US $3 million on the Somalia operation, including nearly $1 million in militia salaries and over $150,000 on arms and ammunition.

One of Le Roux’s top lieutenants claimed the plan with the Somali militants was to invade Seychelles and takeover. But official investigators thought that was probably fantasy talk rather than a genuine operation.

That may seem outlandish but they probably could’ve done it. He could also could’ve got double the men if he wasn’t overpaying. They fleeced him and returned to fighting a clan war :russ:

His storyy is absolutely surreal, what a madman.

Goes to show that if you have some guts and money, you can accomplish big things. My guy got fleeced like an idiot at the end but if 10% of what he wanted would have paid off, he would have gotten his money back.

People think Somali warlords are just guys with guns when they (were) actually basically generals for their clans who were paid by qaraan

سبحان اللهِ وبحمدِه Free Palestine
From what I’ve read this is basically how Oman and Britain colonized Africa and the Swahili Coast

They payed African foot soldiers who loyally did their bidding (this isn’t the complete picture but the jist)

He was going for that mercenary cąpitalist setup that brings in the pesos in other African countries
Reminds of the Wagner/ French beer fight in the Central African Republic
