I personally don't hate Premier Bank. They have opened proper bank branches in SL, PL and across Mogadishu, providing ATMs, POS services for businesses.

They're responsible for Somalia's increasing shift towards traditional banking and they recently signed a deal with Visa. Now you can use your card at major restaurants in Xamar, Hargeisa, Garowe and Bosasso.

But that does not mean I am going to call out what is dangerous to Somali society.

Background info:

Premier Bank, one of Somalia's largest banking providers and the only Mastercard provider in the nation has been utilising social media heavily for its advertising campaign. Somalis both inside and outside the nation, such as myself have been targeted by these ads.

What is controversial is who is on these ads.

Judgement:

The advertisement does not even have a Somali Arab let alone an actual ethnic Somali on its advertisements. Instead, it is using a Khaleeji woman in order to advertise a vital consumer product to the Somali community.

This Somali bank is obviously just stealing the image from the internet and editing their logo on it. It's a case of lazy advertisement, not self-hate. Nowhere in the world are Arabs a standard of beauty, much less Somalia.
