Remember they would put plastic down and then put all the food in a big saucer. Then my ayeyo would feed me the food and if she saw I wasn't eating properly she'd slap me and shove it in my mouth and threaten me if I spit it out.

I remember every Friday during Jumah my dad would take me to Friday prayers when I was in kindergarten. This was the early 90s with the big puffy dresses. I would come home to eat (they hated outside food) and my ayeyo once ripped the flower from my dress because I would eat the lamb they got for lunch. At that time there were barely any mosques or halal meat stores in Toronto. My mean ayeyo lives with us, my nice ayeyo is back home in Gabiley and she would let me do whatever I wanted.
