What is your culture camel theft πŸ˜‚ We have the best Somali poets and poems that are 300 years old, while your oldest poem dates back to 1890 maybe. πŸ˜‚ Sacad Muuse are reer galbaad And they are farmers and share the same culture with their neighbors there. Nobody stole anything

This a north eastern dance

Interesting! Indeed dope sxb. Where did this originate from ? I see a lot of different components from others in it.
It originated from reer sitti/djibouti area that’s all I know About it maybe some Djiboutians can explain the history behind it

To my understanding, it's not limited to Sitti/Djibouti but even well played/danced in northern DDS (Faafan and some parts of Hararghe) and SL (Awdal).

Though, it's mostly common in Dir Dhaba/Sitti/Djibouti among beesha Cisse, where it's originated from. But today it's also part of the culture of Gadabuursi and other clans in the region.

It's called Hariimaadee or Wilwil dance. I've heard about its origin a couple of times, from what I remember it is/was a 'war/warrior' dance.

For me, I personally have many memories of it from Dir Dhaba. The city itself constitutes a cornerstone of Somali culture.

Thanks for the informative cultural background of this ciyaar! It sounded very majestic when I first heard it and I had feeling it has something to do with preparation for something else entirely!

Is any other dances in the region that are quite similar?

Tbh, I'm very uncultured and have limited knowledge in this regard. :drakekidding:

The only reason I know this, is because it's the one dance I grew up with the most. Followed by Dhaanto and to a certain extent Jaandheer and Zeylaci as well. That's about it. :browtf:

@GaradShabeel Gartay, neither am I unfortunately maybe someone knows more about it. I was once told awhile back the Gurgure had a cultural dance from that area but I wasn’t able to find anything relatively different from online searches.

I'm not going to lie here. I've heard about it as well, but remember very little about it. I might have to take a trip back to get culturally enriched soon :mjkkk:

But I looked up and found a few videos.

This is a southern ciyaar that is the most bizarre one of I’ve seen! Acuudibillah!

There’s a sand throwing dance done in Himan I forgot what it was called! All in all southern dances are foreign concept to me at times.
