I actually run miles away when a clip of a Somali lady doing 'niiko' appears. Our ladies are not designed for that.I myself enjoy a little niko from time to time, but jandheer is nice too.
The best dance in terms of sound and literature is the reer hawd ciyaar and the best in movements is ciyaarta ceergaabo This is agreed upon
You are the one who says this I said that these traditional dances exist in every region and they go back hundreds of years We do not know who was the first to do them''We WaZ MadE ThiS'' kkkk

Interesting! Indeed dope sxb. Where did this originate from ? I see a lot of different components from others in it.
It originated from reer sitti/djibouti area thatβs all I know About it maybe some Djiboutians can explain the history behind it
To my understanding, it's not limited to Sitti/Djibouti but even well played/danced in northern DDS (Faafan and some parts of Hararghe) and SL (Awdal).
Though, it's mostly common in Dir Dhaba/Sitti/Djibouti among beesha Cisse, where it's originated from. But today it's also part of the culture of Gadabuursi and other clans in the region.
It's called Hariimaadee or Wilwil dance. I've heard about its origin a couple of times, from what I remember it is/was a 'war/warrior' dance.
For me, I personally have many memories of it from Dir Dhaba. The city itself constitutes a cornerstone of Somali culture.
Thanks for the informative cultural background of this ciyaar! It sounded very majestic when I first heard it and I had feeling it has something to do with preparation for something else entirely!
Is any other dances in the region that are quite similar?
@GaradShabeel Gartay, neither am I unfortunately maybe someone knows more about it. I was once told awhile back the Gurgure had a cultural dance from that area but I wasnβt able to find anything relatively different from online searches.
I'm not going to lie here. I've heard about it as well, but remember very little about it. I might have to take a trip back to get culturally enriched soon
But I looked up and found a few videos.
