With the advent of the internet the need for personal interaction with a minority is less necessary.
Also I find that people despite holding majority status in various ways can be a minority in opinion, beliefs or hobbies and that common ground can be found.
That said it is important to at least have some persons who share your experience and tribulations but that is only on personal level for me at least.
I actually find it to be a blessing.

Imagine if there were 100 million Somalis and 2-3 million of us in the West or something.
There are millions of black people, white people, Asian people in the UK for example. But maximum 100k Somalis.
There is nothing worse than being surrounded by ajnabis wallahi.

I grew up in Germany in the 90s/2000s with less than 10,000 Somalis in the entire country of over 82 million (82,000,000).
My Af-Somali is atrocious because of this.

Place of birth doesn't determine nationality, it's ancestry. You always have the option to repatriate to your true country and feel at home but you choose not to because you prefer the superior quality of life the western world provides over that brotherhood and fraternity you get from fellow Somalis back at the home country.
