Good! It’s about time we had these cows in Somalia. Japan did the same many decades ago. They bred them with their local stock to increase milk production.
The fact that there aren’t ranches in Somalia is one of the biggest mysteries in human development. We literally saw the success of that system in America, Europe and Japan yet nobody, not a livestock herder or a government official thought to themselves, maybe we should adopt this in Somalia? It would prevent over-grazing, it would prevent petty conflict as there would be clear delineated private areas for grazing per herder or farmer, it would create more employment in the former of herders, vets, farmhands feeding animals, producing milk, cheese, yoghurt, etc, leather-manufacturers, meat-processing, livestock export to coastal ports etc, an entire new economic eco-system, one that could be more sustainable and resistant against droughts.
