You guys deny our history before qaal comes to us. We use to live in clan boundries that provide food water. To replace it I agree with @Dalalos_ibn_Adali to give more power to degmos councils. PL shifting to this direction, soon others will follow. Take orders from xamar is over. It us we should work to build our cities and villages.

Clan federalism is the cure to clan conflict that occurred in Somalia or else it will be repeat of clan power struggle, if we ignore clan, we will repeat the same mistakes that led to the civil war. We didn't fight each other over districts of north vs south so implementing those solutions will only lead us down the path of another civil war, our civil war was clan driven and any govt that isn't addressing the clan factor is doomed to repeat the same mistake.
One word: Clan

That's the root cause of the continuous strife among the Somalis, the men and women are not loyal to the concept of a nation-state but clan and kinship bonds. There is no idea of the greater good within the Somali psyche and so consequently how can you expect a collective effort?

Yes, the current system ensures some level of stability in such a society but how long before old rivalries start kicking off? It is certainly not a long term solution but rather a short term one.

@HiraanBorn UAE model of loose federalism with a collegiate executive branch at the national level is the best option for us
Maybe it might work but I think that the internal factors in Somalia and the UAE are different. The UAE is relatively small geographically so it is easier to govern in a sense. Somalia is quite big (comparable to Texas in area size) so clans can be spread too far apart for any real nationwide cooperation to happen.

Federalism to me just reeks of tribalism that is just more elaborately presented. That's my point.
