It was a quiet evening in the plains of the Geladi desert, the moon was full and sat gracefully above the four mud baked houses of the tiny village of jinni, nought broke the silence except for the odd scratching claws of a scurrying gecko and the distant hoots of a bird.
A girl arose in one of the said four houses. She was a slight thing of maybe 9 or 10 years of age, she was a waif of a creature with sharp protruding eyes and narrow pursed lips.
She tiptoed her way around her scattered sleeping siblings lead by fragmented moonlight that stole into the room. She stepped outside barefooted and waited.
What was she waiting for you wonder a young child at that hour.
That’s a good question you ask.
The girl standing before you, was not of the ordinary stock you see. She was a brave soul looking for adventure, this sense of adventure had gotten her into trouble before that along with her hardheaded approach and sharp tongue.
You see a few weeks earlier as she had lain on her thin mattress one night she had had a visitor a ghostly child of similar age who she had found astonishingly charming what with his simple smile and merry laugh, he had taken her by the hand and lead her outside he had shown her how to chase tyres with a stick and how to eat sand, they played into the wee hours of the morning chasing moths and lizards. She had crept back into her bed with a soft smile and happy heart just before the dawn prayer.
It is said this child visits every child once in their lives in the village of jinni. To get a visit from him is almost a right of passage.
However @Basra and him have become fast friends.
