Kane, I sometimes question your IQ levels. Are so you removed from history and reality? Or are you a troll? Iranian, Arab and Indian merchants have been in the city for at least 700 yrs. Do you think that in medieval Somalia patriarchy wasn’t a thing? Do you think these Somali women of old who married these traders did so out of ‘love’? Let me enrage you even more, during the time of Burton, non Somali Harari leaders would often take on a Somali first wife and it would always be arranged by her powerful Ugaas fathers who wanted a strong political alliance. Let me tell you the biggest issue and I’m going to have some attack me here. Ethnic Somalis are filled with hatred towards each other and many would rather foreigners take credit than a Somali from a different qabil. I’ve literally heard Daroods and Isaaqs doubt that Xamar was led by Abgaals or Hawiyes in general. Anti dark skin sentiments are also rife with footo madow when the average Isaaq and Darood is also dark skin. I also don’t think Hawiyes are innocent in all this as well. But I’m being honest here. If we tear each other down ultimately WE Somalis regardless of tribe will look like fools because on the world stage we are all the same. The same people who are trying to claim the history of Xamar are also trying to claim the history of Zeila.

How would they even begin to get to know a Somali woman who would be in the midst of her tribes men herding? These men would have to go into the interior, speak to tribal elders and forge a union via speaking to the men. That is how these marriages came about. Somalis were incredibly territorial and Ajnabis would have to be escorted and be introduced via another Somali.

Even Inter qabil marriages worked that way. Somalis would exchange women after heavy tribal warfare and disputes or sometimes a woman’s sub sub clan might be decimated and run off the land and the women would be found by Somalis of other tribes and then married off or sadly taken in by the men who fought her tribe.

I don’t think they realize how the lives of women was so different to today modern world. Most Somalis have a great great grandmothers of different tribes and it wasn’t because their great ayeeyos fell in love with a man of a different tribe, it was because of conflict resolution, trade deals or the men in her sub clan being finished off.

I dont understand How are they somali tribe they are not even decent of somali paternal lineage in order people to be in somali tribe they need to direct decent of somali male ancestors they can't become somali just cuz their males decent marry alot somali woman generations that is not how it works
