I slept thru most of the adaans in the gulf tbh but then again I sleep like the dead

Wearing a dirac without gogorad is so nice tho especially in warm weather. It's probably unpleasent to wear when it's hot, especially if it's made out of itchy, scratchy material

She could also move somewhere away from the mosques. She legit sounds like a cadaan snob who went to Somalia for the first time and the googarad tweet is just ridiculous. How can you make such a big issue out of it when nobody's forcing you to wear it :snoop:

Dirac without a gogorad is too breezy for me. I feel exposed lol.

I usually wear the slightly thicker ones that aren't as see thru to sleep in, I don't think I could get away with wearing wedding dirac without a gogorad lol the exposed bra is as far as i can go :damn:

99.9% of Somalis are Muslim and the Athan is for them :umwhat:kulaha bully and harass lol negro if we can't blast our Athan in the west then best believe we'll blast it in our home country.

Somalia is not 99.9% Muslim (I'm not a Muslim and I account for 5% of Somalia's population). And even if it were, so what? Canada is 99% non-Muslim and yet no one forces you to believe or conform to some stupid religious practice.

Small-mindedness (e.g. my clan is better than your clan) destroyed. You're only perpetuating that same pathology with this religious conformity agenda.

Non one has still answered the question: what purpose do prayer calls serve? If it is to remind people, why can't it be done in a way that doesn't disturb others? Why must religious folks ostentatiously display their piety?

Lots of questions. Very few answers. Verily, Allah knows best!

For real! 9/10 Somali women I know literally have adhan alarms that scream on their phone. Why not a text message or a vibration from the application? Even my mom is at fault of this! It's funny because when I tell them to lower the volume they claim "igadaaf it's Allah's calling". Doesn't the Islamic religion preach piety and not allowing others to see your good deeds? It's so hypocritical! They do it in crowded places as well, in Western settings. Why would you have this blasting in a restaurant filled with white people post 9/11? White people are literally fighting for you and have invented the term islamaphobia to help you out, don't bite the hand of your feeder.
I called an aunt of mine once (qabiil habbo) and she wasn't answering the phone. I wanted to leave a message and her voice mail was the scariest verses screaming about death and qowmul qiyamah waan ba isku naxay. I said blease change habbo.

There are no mosques with loudspeakers in the country side and everyone in major urban centers has a cell phone.

If it was up to me, I'd convert every mosque into shelter for the homeless. These dumb buildings cost so much to build in a country where the overwhelming majority of the people don't have adequate drinking water let alone decent shelter. It's scandalous!

Thank god it's not up to you then. Somalia is a muslim country whether you like it or not.

ooo. I don't know what a shiid is but I love wearing dirics and baatis without underwear at night. xaax, I feel naked even though I have clothes on and it feels like cloud 9. try it on a day with a clean baati after freshly shaved legs and lotion and fresh sheets. 11/10

Even if we go by your numbers, why would you deprive 95% of the population of their religious rights. Right now, it's you who's trying to force your way of life on people. I'm sure you were Muslim once upon a time, therefore you must know that the Athan is a pillar of salaah and it has been echoing the streets of Xamar for over a thousand years, why would they stop now?

A nice solution to your problem is to simply move/build your house far away from a masjid.

It's about Human Rights, man. It doesn't matter even if Somalia was a 1000% Muslim (resurrect all the dead Somalis and count them as living Somalis).

Everyone has the Allah given human right to peaceful and tranquil life. Majority rule, minority rights. I say NO to the tyranny of the majority.

Stop being so insecure. Whatever Allah wills will be.

May Allah guide us all to gaalnimmo! Aamiin!

I'm not being insecure, you're just being irrational by expecting people to abandon one of the most iconic things about Islam. I don't see Christian Levantines and Ethiopians complaining about the athan...

That's because they have not seen the light! I've been to the mountain top and I have seen the light! Let me tell you, life is better and richer without insecure people foisting their insecurities on others.

Athans are noise pollution! Stop polluting the air in Somalia!

My parents told me about one of the mosques here, that's literally a house converted to a mosque, that attempted to loudspeaker the Adhan at first until the neighborhood homes shut it down.

When I was in Tunis, the mosques were in very close distance of each other and they will all go off in a loud ruckus. It sounds nothing like the peaceable orchestrated versions you hear.

Still, I don't think it's rational to expect a majority Muslim to forego the Adhan.

When in Rome...

The irony in all of this is: I actually find some Aathans beautiful and would not mind listening to them. On occassions. But when you hear them 5 times a day including when humping your xalimo, when you're taking a dump, when you're watching big bootied xalimo walk by... I mean common, give it a rest!

May Allah safe us from the tyranny of cacophonous Athans!

Do you feel guilty? Maybe you're not a fully-fledged gaal after all :siilaanyolaugh:

Lmao. I can see the Fajr ones being the most bothersome.

After a while, you get used to them. It sorta becomes part of the background noises of life. I'm a light sleeper and it woke me up without fail, but some people can actually sleep through them and go about their business without skipping a beat.

Adhans don't make ppl feel guilty to 'sin'. Unless you're just barely getting acclimated to them as a diasporan, and that fades.
