In the U.S. you can get into prestigious Universities(Ivy League) if you fit the requirements and happen to be black. It's like an identifier tag that comes with privilege. Overacheiving Indhoyar students are rejected while blacks with state-college level grades are accepted into ivy leagues for "diversity". This is why we sued multiple universities for this exact problem.
"We"?

They've misclassified our race. We should be included amongst the Caucasians.

I will write a very strongly worded letter to the US census bureau to have them correct this matter.

There hasn’t been a better time to be black in America then rn lol. Nacas Somalis are too prideful and are blocking their blessings lol da race card has bailed me out tons of times ngl. Shii I’ll do da dougie with a bucket of kfc in my hand if u want.

In reality these racial categories have no scientific basis, but act as broad social groupings. There is less genetic distance between a French and a Japanese person, than between a Somali and a Cameroonian person. An African American will have stronger genetic ties to a British person than to me. If we were to base race on actual genetic similarities there would be like 6 races in Africa and non-Africans would comprise 1.

They vary from country to country as well. I live in Australia whenever 'white' is used it seems to refer exclusively to Europeans and not Turkish, Lebanese or Syrians. Interestingly, 'black' as an identity is commonly used by indigenous Australians, regardless of their admixture or appearance. Africans here will identify as their ethnicity or nationality (habesha, oromo, Somali, Ugandan, Zimbabwean etc.), not usually as black.

I take no offence to being considered black but it is an identity that for me only exists in white spaces. I am black when I'm surrounded by white people. It is not an innate identity - in my mind I am [RayL], child of [my parents], a Somali woman from [X] clan with family from [X] cities, born in [X] country.

Not many Somalis in America for us to complain about being categorised with other black people, and to be honest most somalis look black but with slim features even Habesha people look less black than us yet we don't see them complain. Get over it.
